During the 2007-2008 school year a diverse team of staff and community members worked to develop a Strategic Plan for the District. The team, which based its work on Jim Collin's book Good to Great, reviewed the District's survey data, District assessment figures, school improvement plans, and future trends in education. The team worked collaboratively to create a mission statement and list of beliefs, which captured the spirit of the District and expressed our essential purpose. The mission and beliefs were approved by the Board of Education at their May 13^th, 2008 meeting. These fundamental beliefs now serve as our guide as we make decisions and plan for our District's future.

In 2008-2009 the Action Plan committees conducted research and proposed new programs, procedures and practices. Year 1 Action Plan Committees addressed various topics, including instrumental music, technology, foreign language, homework, MAP testing, home-school communication, student engagement, finances and facilities. In 2009-2010 some of the Action Plan Committees implemented their recommendations while others continued the next phase of their work. New Action Plan Committees, including Social Emotional Learning, Student Discipline, and New Reading Materials were also established during Year 2. In 2010-2011, the third year of the plan, new technology goals were added, and studies were conducted in the areas of writing, science, physical education and health. Other Action Plan Committees, such as Student Engagement, Communication, Foreign Language, Facilities, Finance, and District Communication, entered an implementation phase or  expanded their goals based on previous years' accomplishments.
