Art Enrichment Classes - 4/5

All students are invited to come to the art room when their individual schedule allows to complete unfinished art projects or to work on independent projects of their choice which the guidance of the art teacher.

Chess Club - 4th-8th Grades

Meeting day/time:  Chess Club meets for 10-week sessions on Tuesdays in the Learning Center for one hour after school. Registration and fees are required.  
 
Choir/Sunset Ridge Singers
Faculty Sponsor:  Andrew Toniolo
Grades:  6th, 7th, 8th  (Students in 4th and 5th will work on choral skills during their weekly music classes with a music program planned annually)
Meeting day/time:  Mondays from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
 
Geography Bee (National Geographic Society)
Coordinator:  Shelley Carey
Grades:  4th-8th
Students sign up for the Bee in the fall.  Practice sessions are held in November with a December competition scheduled. The school's finalist completes a written exam in January.  Exams are scored by The National Geographic Society.  School finalists are invited to participate with other area finalists in Springfield if the score on their exam meets the criteria set by The National Geographic Society judges. State finalists go on to compete in Washington, DC.  
 
GREEN CLUB 
Faculty Sponsors: Pilar Westfall and Jennifer Kahlenberg
Grades: 4th-8th
Meeting day/time: Green Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7:30am, beginning Sept. 28th, in either Senora Westfall's room (Rm. 110) or Mrs. Kahlenberg's classroom (Rm. 105). The first meeting will be held in Senora Westfall's room. Everyone is welcome!
 
Junior Great Books (Grades 4-5)

Principal's Advisory

Meeting day/time:  4th-6th grade students meet once a quarter after school.  7th & 8th graders meet once a month during their lunch/recess block.  Meetings are posted on the district calendar.  The primary focus of Principal's Advisory is to engage students to share ideas, problem solve, and work together to help maintain a welcoming learning community.  
 
Scholastic Bowl

Social Dance

Grade:  6th
Meeting day/time:  Meets on Friday nights for an 8-week period in the late fall/early winter.  Program focuses on teaching dance steps and social etiquette.  
 
Spelling Bee
Coordinator:  Shelley Carey
Grades:  3rd to 8th Grades
Students sign up in October and begin studying for the January local competitions.  Grades 3-5 will compete after school in December.  The winner will join the 6th-8th competition held in January.  The finalist competes with other school winners at a regional competition scheduled in February.
